Excessive road noise

So I recently installed the Pirelli 210 Snowsport tires back onto the X3. Starting earlier this week, I've noticed substantial tire noise as the speed increases, usually about 60km/h or 40mph. I'm really not sure what's causing this, but I don't recall them making that much noise, even when I first installed them 2 weeks ago or last season when I had them on.

Any ideas what might be causing the road noise? Perhaps the slightly warmer temps (50°F)? I was not sure of the tire rotation direction since they only mark "outside" versus inside, so could I have installed one of them in the wrong rotation direction? There is no marking as to the rotation direction. :dunno:

These tires aren't directional, so that isn't the problem for sure. When you say "back onto" the X3, I'll take that to mean this isn't the first season on the tires. More than likely, the noise issues are due to slightly irregular wear on the tires.
