I am ready for the first oil change on my 95 m3 with 92k. Previous owner ran penzoil 10-30.

I dont want to change to synthetic but would like a higher quality non-synthetic.

Any ideas? German castrol?

Why not a fully synthetic? and the 30wt is a bit thin for the S50 engine. I use 10-40 in the winter and 15-50 in the summer. I happen to use Mobil 1, available at Wally World in very convenient 5 L jugs...

Well I hear that if a car has been run on non-synthetic oil for its life (90k here); that with the introduction of synthetic it is possible to develop oil leaks.

I will need to look into a heavier oil though. The first owner would never get on the gas and I like to do that so I suppose the heavier oil is more important under the higher stresses I put on the car.

Thanks for your input.

Old wives tale... If you are really worried, switch in stages, 1/2 dino, 1/2 synthetic... then the next change full synthetic.
