Alright, this was my FIRST question when I got my car; how to unlock the doors from inside. So I just kept pulling on my door handle and it unlocked both doors. So is that what I'm supposed to do? I've been doing this since I got it about a year and 2 months ago. Let me know if there's a button or something for it. THX!!!

There is a button that has a door icon on it. Press it to lock or unlock your doors.

Where's the button, because I don't have a door button

In the e36 I think it is on the console between the seats or it may be in the center of the dash. In our e90 we just pull on the door handle twice to unlock the doors, you may want to give that a shot.

Na dude, I looked everywhere for it. Can find it. I'm almost convinced that there is no button and that you're supposed to pull on the handle

you pull up on the popper on the doors. pull it up to unlock all the doors and push it down to lock them, there is not a button in your car

OBDI cars just use the push/pull. OBDII got a button. I had the button on my 98 5, and I HATED it. Lol.

Some have buttons, some don't. Just pull the handle twice whn you wanna get out. It's second nature to me now (almost 4 years of e36 ownership) and I do it other peoples' cars. (and it doesn't work lol)

+1. I didn't like the E39 because the handle was so much harder to pull on all the doors that no one else but me could ever figure it out. For me it always felt like I was gonna break the handle if I pulled much farther. Lol.

The E36 and the Jag have a much better execution of it, both of them being nearly identical. Handles are easy to pull for the uninitiated, and on the Jag it does have a button, but I can use it with the doors open.....(unlike the E39 for reasons I could never understand).

Well I'm not complaining about it, I was just very curios why such a luxurious and top of the line (@ least in its time) car doesn't have a button to unlock the doors  . But yea now I'm used to it and and not that much annoyed by it.

it's a theft deterrent. if you double lock the doors (with the second button on the remote or with the key on the door), the doors won't open unless you rip it out. or have a key. it's kinda neat, and you can also be a dick and lock your friends in the car.

Haha, I actually did that to one of my friends and he started freaking out. It was hilarious and I had a good laugh out of it. :D

Ok... I'll bite: How did you lock them in the first place when you got in?

I know in some countries or locations people have a fear of being carjacked; I'll assume that's your reason for locking yourself in?

Mine just has door pins, raise them, lower them. Has the double lock feature too. Lock them from the outside with the key and you can't raise them.

That's great as sumer approaches. I can lock the door and walk briefly into a shop with the windows halfway (or even fully) down. People look at you like you're an idiot: leaving the window down but locking the door. But they can't open it if they tried!
No, I wouldn't do it with anything valuable within reach/sight.
