got some new plugs and I am going to switch them out but this is going to be my first time changing out plugs and I read that when i put the new ones in i need to "Torque the spark plugs to 25 Nm (18.4 ft-lbs)." How do I measure this?

With a torque wrench. Pick one up for $30 or so from your favorite local tool or automotive supply.

Or bowwor one from a friend for $0.
(or estimate by tightening them to "finger tight" + 3/4 turn. :dunno:)

yeah, dude. If you have a torque wrench... Set it for 18.4 ft/lbs (or 220.8 in/lbs) and ratchet until you hear it *click*
How you set the wrench depends on the wrench itself. On mine, you loosen a cap on the "butt," then turn the handle until it lines up with the appropriate mark on the shaft, then tighten the aforementioned butt-cap. Yours might differ...

I always did the hand tight plus 1/2 turn, never had any problems, but I guess they give torque specs for a reason

There's a joke hiding in there somewhere....

I've never used a torque wrench for plugs. But probably only because I never had one.
I just rachet/socket tighten until the crush washers stop crushing and I feel the sudden increase in resistance.
