98% sure it's a dead battery (thinking it's a short in the batt.)

1992 E36 325I, was parked outfront for a week, was running fine. This morning, couldn't get it to start.

Radio, lights, guages, displays all light up, turn the key to engage the starter, no engage, no solenoid sound, but the electrics are still working.

Threw a charger on it, but after about 3 hours, still nothing, except, the Hazard lights are flashing after I try to engage the starter, about 20 flashes and then they quit. Battery charger shows to be pulling 6-8 amps after each start attempt.

Battery will be tested in the morning when I find my battery load tester in the garage, but has anyone run across this before with the lights ? I am thinking that a low voltage situation might have tripped the Immobilization switch (will pull computer fuses to attempt reset) Is there anything else I should look for ? I read about an alarm override switch, where is this located at ?

Like I said, I am thinking battery shorted a plate or something since it was running fine and then just stopped.

Opinions ?

Does sound like a battery.
If you've no voltmeter, you can turn the ignition on and check the colour of your headlights, assuming they're halogen.
If they're a fairly dim yellow: flat battery for sure.

OK, battery was hosed, picked up a new one, put it in.

Car still won't start, still getting the flashing Hazard lights, power to everything, just not to the starter.

Pulled the fuse (#23 & 45) from the box to the computer to attempt to rest immobilizer (if it has one)

Still nothing.

Need ideas and has anyone seen this with the Hazards.

And in conclusion.....after discovering that the '92 325I doesn't have an Immobilzer, I went diggin....found a relay, found some other things.....low and behold, found that the previous owner had installed an aftermarket alarm, the removed parts of it (like the horn attachment and LED that would have made it obvious) so I traced out the wiring, and eventually found the valet switch hidden, reset it and now it runs.

Removing the alarm since this car is going to spend it's remaining life on the race track

Well done. Glad to see you got it sorted.
