Hi,
I am wondering how those of you with x-drive 3-ers size your wheels/tires for winter driving. This is of course assuming you had summer tires on as original equipment? I think the wheels/tires that I got for mine are slightly different than my summer tires, and now the car thinks it is slipping. Do you need to match the ODs of the original tires? Thanks,
~Ryan

I have staggered summer tires that came with the sport package (328xiT).

For winters i just used the same 17" size all round (no stagger).

You don't have to match a summer stagger with winters.

The same car without the sports package comes with non staggered tires.

Regarding the slipping - if your DSC is coming on in higher gears - possibly one tire is not the correct size.

Unless the tire(s) were manufactured improperly, the tires/rims have all been verified to be correct. The tire specs call out equal OD (25.0") for both front and rear. Your stock sports wheels were 17" right? What are the spec OD for those tires? Thanks,

Original equipment 17" (summer tires staggered) are:

Fronts 225/45-17

Rears 255/40-17

Winter tires (all four) are:

225/45R-17 Bridgestone Blizzak LM-22 RFT Runflat - OE vehicle.

Their is no need to stagger the winters according to Gary and my experience.

After all the same car in non sports mode has 225/45-17's on all fours.

OK I am running the correct sizes on the staggers. I think there is a slight diameter difference between front and back on the tires despite this... lame... might have to sell these for a set of non-staggered. Could you put 4x 225/45R17 tires on the staggered rims? That size is good for rims from 7.5-10" IIRC.

Yes; I am running that size all around on staggered Style 161 rims with no problems for my winter setup.

I have the stock sport package 18" summer setup (225/40-18f and 255/35-18r), which has a slight OD difference f/r. The OD difference isn't present on my winter setup of course but I haven't tripped DSC because of it, although I don't have xDrive so YMMV.

OK so i finally swapped the tires on the rear so that I now have 4 225/45R17 on the staggered rims. Fixed my problem!! :D
