Hi all
I have recently found out I have some suspension issue's. One of my tires had worn down to the steel wiring on the inside while the outside looked new. I took it into to my wheel/tire guys and they took it apart and were checking it out and told me I needed new tie rod endings, thrust bushings, and a new right front hub (that was the where the tire was, it was also missing a lug nut which had ruined the hub). So I got this work done and all is good right... wrong... when trying to align my car they were unable to get the camber on the right front wheel into the specified range, it actually got worse. So now they say the problem is likely in the control arm or the struts, and they mentioned something else that I forget.

I want to upgrade my suspension anyways, and I'm feeling like now is the time since all these other new parts are going in. They said struts needed to be looked at to find the solution to the camber problem, and likely will need to be replaced on the front right, and I'm pretty sure that struts are one of the things you change when upgrading a suspension, right?

I guess what I'm wondering is what I need to get for my new suspension... shocks, struts, springs? more?... I'm new to all this and I don't really know. Also I'm wondering what brands do well on e36's, and how much I should/can lower without losing performance ( i want performance, not some street slammed ride), and approximately how much money I will be looking at for the parts. Any information would be appreciated.

P.s. if you know anything about gauge/dash lighting problems please check out my other thread, I have a problem there as well :(

I'm not up on suspension, but I do have one piece of advice for you.
Leave the tyre shop, where they say "We do suspension too" and go to a suspension shop.

Instead of "It might be this. If not, let's try this", they will know what you need to do because it's all they do. And they will have the right test / alignment gear to do it.

Great idea. I've been going to this place for almost 5 years so that thought never even crossed my mind. thanks :)

Well,
I can tell you this: when I got my car I had to have new struts and shocks put in. Everything was shot, and it had problem with alignment as well. Depending on the shop you go to and the parts you choose, it costs around $1600 for parts and labor. Also, if you're going to change the shocks remember to put in e36 strut plate and also reinforced RSMs while you're at it.
