Gary - I am looking at a set of used 16" Dunlop WinterSport M2 tires for my e39. They say the treads are 10/32 and 8/32 on them (back/front). I am trying to get the date code info from the seller but they are telling me they just bought these last year. Searching the board posts about this tire stopped in 2005. Do you know when was this tire was last sold and am I potentially getting into a really old tire? If I am buying a set used (deal is good and don't know if I can put together the clams for a new set) what is the age limit I should hold at? Thanks!

What size tire? I'll see when we last sold them.

So she still hasn't gotten back to me with the actual tire size - they are 16" Borbet 5 spoke's for an e39 - but she did some back with a manufacture date of mid 2002. I'm guessing 6 years I should stay away huh? What really is the age limit on these? I keep reading about 4/5 years is the cutoff.

btw... found out they are 225/55 - 16.

Tires don't technically have an age limit, and winter tires are stored most of the year away from direct sunlight and other environmental conditions. I personally would have no issues using those.

Thanks Gary. Good to know. Any major differences between these and the M3's?

The M3 had a slight tread pattern update and saw some improvements in ice and snow traction.
