Brought my 06 in for oil service (600 miles according to computer) among other things, dealer actually removed the fly in my tail lens.

At any rate, when I got the car back, it was started by the porter but when I started it up later, I noticed that the oil service indicated service in 700 miles (no yellow car icon). Brought it back to the dealer and 4 techs could not reset the oil service, SA asked me to bring it back as they were about to close.

Came home and followed the procedure posted here, accessed the manual and got the message "RESET NOT POSSIBLE".

Any idea? BTW, my vehicle was reprogrammed today b/c the basic control unit was changed out, along with the L & R intake muffler, all for a minor rattling noise like the ones you get from a tight heat shield.

Im betting you just have to drive it a few hundred more miles before you can reset it. Your not close enough to the service interval to reset it. At least thats how it is in my e39, you cant reset the service light untill its just about at 0. Thats nice they took the fly out

That's odd b/c I usually have my wife's 03 in when the computer indicated between 400-700 miles remaining, never had an issue with the reset.

I might be wrong then (mine is a 2000). I cant think of any other reason why it wouldnt reset then. :dunno:

For another data point, I took our E66 in for an oil change w/600 miles to go and a green car icon. Made the appointment a week earlier with a yellow icon and 500 to go. The day I started the car to go to the dealer - green icon. Service reset was successful too...

Well, it should be interesting when I bring it in tomorrow since several techs "looked" at it tonight, they were not doing anything differently than I would but I decided to let the experts have a go at it. I think it would be probably there over the weekend....

Got a call 2.5 hours after drop-off and was told they did it through the computer since the usual start-press reset-menu procedure kept saying it was not possible, no further explanation. It worked out fine since I needed to drop off my wife's '03 for other electrical/electronic issues. The S/A laughed when I told him of my appetite of pain, then he proceeded to pull out a set of Lexus keys from his pocket and told me how much peace of mind he has...
