I'm shopping for wheels & snow tires for my '97 740iL. I live in NYC, the car is a weekend car, but I'll be making frequent family skiing trips in New England this winter. I'm looking for a setup to give good traction in ice and snow and willing to sacrifice performance. OE wheel size is 16".
When I enter my car info in the Tire Rack website, it offers me wheel sizes from 16" to 20". Will those sizes fit a 740iL? For ice & snow traction, do I want smaller wheel size or larger?
If I can't find the tires I want in 16" would it be OK to order 17" wheels if the tires are available in 17?
