I'm new here, and my car doesn't have any problems yet, but BMW's reputation for quality indicates that it shouldn't be long before I am in need of repairs...

What Seattle-area repair shops do you guys go to?

I've heard nothing but bad things about the local dealers, so I'm definitely leaning towards independent shops, or doing work myself.

The guy that I bought my car from swears by Fat City Motorworks (206) 443-1999. I know nothing about them personally as I just purchased my car a week ago but I do have a stack of receipts and they seem to have been pretty thorough and reasonably priced.

I've almays taken my german cars to "Too Quicks German Auto Service" there by 512 and I-5. I bring the parts and get a quote up front for the labor. THEY FREAKING ROCK in my book. You can go to VWVortex.com pacific nw section and check out thier reviews there if you want. Used to have a 02 VW jetta it needed timing belt, water pump, all pulleys ect replaced. They quoted me under $400.00 for the labor, the dealer quoted $2,000.00 because I guess you need to pull the moter to get at it. I odered all the parts on line from Germany (upgraded parts, No plastic water pump blades ect, got a free bolt kit that was need, thermostat, thermostat house, fluild, cam seals and crank seal for around $500.00 shipped. Dealer Quoted almost $2000.00. So yeah they are great in my book.
