Hello,

Just wondering if anyone here can guide me through what I should look out for when shopping for a 3.0 X5. I've always had BMW's but mostly 3series. I'm looking into the possibilities of upgrading to an X5 from a local used car lot but would like to find out more about it before jumping the gun.

Here are the ads for some potentials: http://vancouver.en.craigslist.ca/ctd/929108890.html and http://vancouver.en.craigslist.ca/ctd/971243652.html. Please let me know if any of these are worth looking at. Thanks everyone!

find yourself a local independant BMW mechanic for a PPI on anything on Craigslist or buy CPO.

you should be able to find 05 CPO's for high 20's USD with decent financing.

+1, the market is VERY soft now and dealers are very hungry. Deals can be had!

Buddy i have a 2003 X5 3.0l and let me tell you i think u better for for the face lifted one!

Besides mechanical problems, the one big thing to not choose this models is the RIDE QUALITY, DAMN its hard!. Sit at the back and you will understand.
The bmw sales have informed me that the facelifted model has a MUCH better ride quality! :)

seriously i love driving this thing hard round the corners but when u are not doing that, seriously NOT ACCEPTABLE, as i have been in the toyota harriers and MB ML (older one).

Also double check them GEARBOXES!! OIL consumption levels, tyres. I REALLY recommend TOYO proxes. SO much cheaper and so much better than the michelin dimaris and the continental (rubbish).

double check the battery too :)
