hey, bimmer fans
my problem is that there is heat coming out the sides of under my car. its not doing anything to my car as far as i know.
if i drive hard on my car for about 10 minutes i get a small amount of steam coming out of the hood. but my heat guage says the car is the same tempurature.
and i get a burning metal smell.
im thinking its the catlitic converter being old and clogged and just needs to be replaced.
anyone els having this problem?

Check if Cat is glowing

If the cat is glowing it is overheating because it is clogged. A straight pipe or replacement cat will fix the blocked cat.

Can you isolate the source of the steam? Try driving it at night and parking it in the dark. Pop the hood and use a flashilght. You will probably be able to follow the steam back to the source.
