Okay this is probably retarded but I need some advice. I just bought a m3 weighted oem knob off of ebay to replace my old beat up one. I need a new boot too. My question is, will the new boot adjust to the knob automatically. In simpler terms...Can i just put the new boot on the car and than the knob on top of the boot? Do i have to adjust anything or am I making too much of a big deal? If I'm forgetting anything help me out.

If I understand the question correctly. You wont have to adjust anything. Theres not much to adjust. The boot just slides down the shifter till it hits the cone stopper then the knob goes above the boot.

About the cone stopper...like will I have to adjust the height because this is a weighted/shortened knob

thats the knob. i just want to make sure that the bottom of the knob meets the leather. I don't want the shaft of the shifter exposed. thanks!

It should go right on there. Heres what your shifter looks like naked.
