View Full Version : Add staggered sport tires to 335 non-sport?

I just leased an 08 335 non-sport, mainly because the deal was so good. I had an 06 330 sport. I am considering adding new sport tires now and garaging the current RFT's until lease-end. I'd like to improve the tires look as well as hope for a handling improvement.

On tirerack, I selected an 08 328 Sport so I would get the same size wheels (17's) but options for sport tires and as a result, staggered pairs. So, for instance, Sumitomo 225/45ZR17 on the front (same size as 335 non-sport) and 255/40/ZR17 on the rears. These would also be non-RFT and thus lower cost. Is this a reasonable or a flawed plan?

Thanks.

Reasonable except that wheels listed for the 328i may not clear the brakes on your 335i. Instead of using a 328i, just use a 335i sedan non-sport for your search to view wheels that would fit.

Perhaps you pointed out a flaw in my plan? I intended to use the 17 inch wheels that are stock on the 335i. That's why I chose the 328i sport pkg with 17 wheels. Thanks Gary.

The 255/40R17 tire size lists a minimum rim width of 8.5". Unfortunately the nonsport OE wheels are only 8" wide.

If you'd like to stagger, you can use 245/40R17 rear with no problem.
