I have a 94 530i. The front main seal is leaking. I have a facotry manual on pdf but it donesnt really cover any real eingine work. There is pratcialy no info on the M60 in the manual. Dose anyone know where I can get a service manual for the M60? Also I need to find out timming chain replacement schedule. Thanks

I heard the E32 Bentley covers a lot of ground on M60 but I do not have it. To do the M60 front seal is rather straight forward. You just need the right tool. There is no scheduled replacement interval for the timing chain. It lasts the life of the engine. The picture is the M60 engine of my 540 when it is on the stand. But you get the idea.

Ok thanks Ill check that out. I like to look things up before I tear into it. I tougt it might be easy. As the tool your refering to is it a seal removal pick or as seal press? Or is there a special tool to remove the harmonic balancer? Thanks

I have a 3/4" drive socket set made in you know where I bought a few years ago for $30. Got the money worth several times over. That was what I meant.

The HB is easy to remove. Eight M8 bolts I think, 13 mm socket. After removal you'll see the flange where you'll find the 3/4" socket and breaker bar useful. Even with the 3/4" breaker bar I had to use a pipe to extend it. One of the larger size socket is good for driving the seal in too.
