I have spoken with a couple good wrenches and this it sounds like this whole concept of rushing to drop the car down to torque the arm at the bushing before it sets-up is not all that important.

Seems to me if I have the new bushing right back in the lollypop right where it should be and match the lolly to arm angle + or - say 5 degrees, then I should be good to go.

I will have the new arm and bushings ready to install soon and I am just going to bolt the outer then inner joints and torque them, bolt the lollypop with bushing to say 15psi drop it and torque the lollypop and bushing to spec when weighted.

It wont happen in any 30 minutes but this procedure should work right?

I am really digging this DIY job. The shops wanted almost a grand for this job.

you should do a write up with pics on it if you feel inclined, I am looking to do the same thing on my car to fix some vibrations I get at higher speeds. has it been a hard job so far? I plan on buying the control arms and bushings from bavauto.com and throwing them on myself if I can.

Kevin,

I think you have to respect the 30 minutes if you use the specified kerosene lubricant. It will fuse the bushing to the arm.

I plan on using soap and water to get away from the time limit. Over time the bushing will fuse. I'm not in a hurry.

I'm planning on doing this job as soon as it gets warmer up here. Curious to know how others have removed and especially torqued back together the inner ball joint bolt. Looks like it may be possible to reach with an extension from the engine bay on the passenger side at least...

I just dont have time for a write up and pics I am afraid. One outer ball gave me trouble but pickle was sliding off side and out of travel too so a cut out washer made it cake.

I marked the lolly-arm angle by putting a flat wood paint mixing stick across a face on the arm and on a card traced the angle between the two.

See info at oversteer.com and just keep digging for info with google searches.

I have been studying and thinking about this a long time and I am now just digging in and doing it. Press out bushing with a big vise and lever if you like 7/8 and 1 inch flat washers came in handy for me.

I am to the point of putting the new bushing lollypop assys back on the arm and then it goes to the car.

Need time for baby girl (3) Sara now. Bye

Inner joints are cake just a socket on the drivers side and an open (no space) on the passenger.
