Anyone know when dealer can take orders for ED of the new Z4?

I doubt ever. The Z4 is made in the USA so there is no reason to ship it to Munich and then back to the US.

Perhaps Adrian or ED specialist can tell you quicker if you post in ED forum, or call your favorite CA out there in Maryland and have her/him find out.

Sorry, e89 Z4 is German made.
WIKIPEDIA:
BMW announced the second-generation Z4 on December 13, 2008 for the 2009 model year. Using a retractable hardtop, the new Z4 replaces the previous roadster and coupe versions. The top is made of a two-piece lightweight aluminum shell, and takes 20 seconds to fold up or down. Manufacturing has been moved from the U.S. to Regensburg, Germany.

Nothing even close to official, but if I had to guess I would say March, with the first EDs coming in May or June.

Will South Bay hold a launching party for the new Z? If so call me.

The E89 will be assembled in Germany. All the X vehicles will be built in Spartansburg, SC. Not sure about the X1 however, but for sure the X3, X5, and X6 will be built in SC.

So the new Z4 will be assembled in Regensburg - I guess this makes sense since the folding hardtops for the E93 are also assembled there.
I loved my previous ED (and Regensburg is a great place to visit, BTW), but I wonder if the trunk storage space makes the Z4 a rather impractical model for ED. Anyone here do an ED for a previous roadster?
Thanks,

The previous Roadster was not available for ED. My '07 Z4 convertible and I have traveled cross country several times and even with a date. As long as you pack efficiently and stick to duffle bags (they can mold to the trunk) you'll be ok. You can also put some things behind passenger seat (if your date is short).
The new Z4 hardtop/convertible supposedly has several interesting features to improve cargo capacity. The question is, how much does it really lose to fit that big roof in the trunk? and you have to go see it at the dealership to tell.
Good luck and enjoy the shopping, it's far more fun than ownership. :)

Guenelin,
Thanks for the input. Any specific complaints about ownership of the Z4 you care to comment on?
Thanks,

Nothing on the '10s. I imagine those will start production in September, and be here by October.
As of now I have 3 2009 Z4s in the order bank, one 30 and two 35s, all scheduled for May production.
Who wants to be the first :bigpimp:

The Z4 had an awful ride... especially with sports package. My 3.0si with sports package follows every rut on the road. This was BMW's first car with run-falts (other than the limited-production Z8). I've ridden many modern BMWs with run-flats that have a superior ride so I'm confident this new car will improve in this department.
Other than that, I love my car. It has been reliable, it's a rocket, and it has the best stereo of any convertible I've ever sat in. As a convertible lover and audiophile, this was a big selling point. However, the bad ride makes up for itself in the awesome handling. It's a fun car to own. If the new car can somehow compromise the hardtop convertible with a decent amount of top-down storage, like the Miata PRHT, then it's a winner. Otherwise, I'll keep my Z4 and just get a 5-series wagon as my other car.
