View Full Version : DIY - Starter Motor 8-Cylinder Engine (M62 Motor)
This is a FAQ but so far no good write-up.
So The following is from BMW T.I.S. Procedure Book for Removal of Starter Motor 8-Cylinder Engine (M62 Motor).
1. Copy your Radio FM Channels.
Then disconnect the Battery.
2. Follow the pictures to remove Starter Motor.

I still can't figure out where this thing actually is in the car. Could you point me in the right direction?

the starter is located low on the engine on the passenger side behind the splash guard you will see the solenoid with 4 bolt sticking out of it mine had a plastic cover on the positive (bottom Large) bolt . As I can not find a diy for this job online i plan on doing this and posting a good one with pics and tools in the next week or two.:thumbup:
