What would you choose if the monthly payments are exactly the same.
2008 335i sedan steptronic ,black saphire with black Dakota, cold weather package, sports package, premium package, navigation, iPod / USB.
Or
2009 335i (LCI) sedan steptronic , montego blue, black leatherette, sports package, cold weather package comfort access, iPod USB.
Idk what I should do, I like the old mirrors and the rims on the 08 sport but hate the mustache, and I can't change it because it's a lease.
Opinions needed!!!

Get the 09. Though I'd add Nav.

Not really an option. The 09 order is 'as is'. I can't make any changes to either car.
Thanks for the opinion. Its a tough decision.

Tough call - I would go with the 08 for the premium and nav.
I got both in mine and they are awesome

The 08's have the Logic 7 Radio don't they? Does the Nav also mean you get HD radio as well or is that only in 09?
I wish i could configure an 08 on the BMW website to see what is standard and what not.
You're car must sound like a beast with that exhaust right? (sound clips?)

I don't think HD came standard in '08s.

Yes it came with the Logic 7, but the HD radio was an option - that would have been cool.
Website only configures '09s - that confused me for a bit.
Exhaust is awesome - low deep rumble at idle and when I get on it it just sings!!
No sound bites though, but a interesting idea.

I vote '08 and I don't think it's all that close. With the '08, you get idrive that's not updated like LCI i-drive, but with the '09, you get no i-drive at all, so you're still ahead with the '08. Premium is big. Logic 7 is big. And although I also hate the moustache, you won't see it when you're driving.
Let us know what you decide - and good luck!

I would go with the 08'. Sounds like it has more in it than the 09' does.

2008 - it's just a lease so you're not married to it forever, and it will be with more options. The substantive upgrade (IMO) for 2009 is iDrive so if you don' t get that on a 2009 I don't see it being worth it. Premium is nice.

Is Satellite radio part of the Nav or premium package? Sorry for the noob question, just wasnt even considering Nav since it wasn't in my 09 budget.

Nice assessment of the mustache
I think the Logic 7 with the subwoofers really put it over the edge for me. I have Nav now in my GTI and I love it(even though its a horrible interface). The iDrive in the 08s are still intuitive and was able to use it without any instruction when I went on a test drive.
Not to mention the 08 would be delivered to me with a day or 2, the 09 goes into production the 4th week of Jan.
I have a feeling by the middle of next week I'll be a proud owner of a sweet BMW!

'08. I like the rims much better, like you said. Plus, iDrive is great. I can't imagine driving a car without it now that I've had it on three BMW's. Leatherette, while nice, is no match for leather. It'll feel much more expensive IMO.
Am I the only one that actually liked the "mustache"? :dunno:
From behind the wheel you can't tell the difference. Is the mustache really that big of a deal when the only time you see it is when you walk in front of your car and look down? For me that's about once every two months. On the other hand, I use the i-drive and enjoy the leather seats everytime I drive it.

The 08 is still brand new...just been taking up a parking spot at the dealer.
The drive is the same, the mirrors(shape as well as being fold up and auto dimming is a plus), rims, sound system, Nav, bluetooth + real leather on the 08 just seems to be a better choice.
Oi. The fiance is no help as shes bugging me "When are we getting my Jeep Liberty?" hmmmm shes getting jealous I'm getting a new car.

I park my car right outside my office so I can stare at it! I guess I'll start backing in the spot.

I would take the '09...looks have been improved a lot making the car more sporty and aggressive. If you can spend the extra cash, go for navigation and you'll be happy in the long run.

lot of people dont realize logic 7 came standard in 08 335
(this is huge for me...only two things i do when driving: drive, listen to music)
premium is nice to have as well
(leather...it grows old with you...and i mean that in a good way)
personally, i would go for the '08 even without the nav
my phone is my nav =)
btw...whats this "mustache" referring to?
I park my car right outside my office so I can stare at it! I guess I'll start backing in the spot.Still... It honestly doesn't bother me. I didn't even notice it until I started reading this board. I do like the non-mustache better, but it really isn't that big of a deal to me. I'd go for the 08 and enjoy all the extra stuff that actually makes a difference when you are behind the wheel.

Yes, technically the '08 is new, but by perception the '09 is the new one. It sounds like you've tipped the scale towards the '08. I say stick with those reasons until you can't do anything about it (i.e. you've bought the '08).
BTW. the logic 7 stereo is good, but the actual L7 settings are worthless and you have to find the right balance between the Bass/Trebble, and equalizer. It's not intuitive at all, but there was a post about the proper settings about 6 months ago by an audiophile who used instrumentation to figure it out. I started with the recommended settings and tweaked it from there. Up until then, I had been disappointed with the sound.
Once dialed in it's halfway decent.

Did they improve any of the mechanical parts in the '09 model? I.e improved oil cooling, fuel pump, etc? I'd go with the '09 with the piece of mind that they have worked out the kinks more in the newer model.

I would take Dakota leather over Nav any day. If you need nav, get Magellan: 4x less money and 10x better performance.

You'll see car inside much more than outside. I am not crazy about E60 design, and, in fact, I hate it's rear design, but I just ignore it for a few second until I get in :p

Seems like a wise decision. I'll see what he can do for me. Would you think both cars should be the same monthly payments?
MSRP on the 09 is 47100, MSRP on the 08 is 50,050. I think he said he was going to give the 08 to me for 46600 or something like that to make it the same monthly payment. Research shows that invoice is 46,065.
If it doesnt snow bad on Saturday, it will be a done deal! Now all I need to do is find my title to my GTI and I'm all set.

It's really more the screen to me. Makes interacting with the car much easier. In my loaner today sans iDrive, it felt like I was trying to communicate with a deaf-mute.

The 09 obviously is an order i placed 12/27, not supposed to go into production for another 2 weeks. The 08 is sitting on their lot(hopefully without the front license plate drilled and their dumb decal plastered on the back)

You can make changes until your car is staged for production. Your CA just has to put it into the system.

Thats exactly it, the same options of the 08 on an 09 are way out of my budget. The same options on an 09 would make it a 52K car. I would not be changing my order to compare apples to apples, thats just not going to happen.
I'll be going Saturday to sign for the 08 to pick it up next week or the week after that. Got to unload my GTI first.

Well, you could conserve on some other things for a while to make up the difference...
Each extra 1k over 60m at 2.9 is an extra, what, 17.50 a month. Pack your lunch a couple of days a week and there's your iDrive!
