I just got back from the BMW Experience in GA.

Hot Stuff, the new 750 drove very nice, loads of power.

Loads of New Technology!

It will be available in X drive and we will also see a 760.

At the very end we got a sneek peek of the New Z4 Hardtop!!

Check out the pics.

Are those all the "Li" LWB versions, or are they regular short-wheel-base versions? One thing that I never liked about the "Li" was that the proportions just looked "off" with that super-long rear door.

The new Z4 looks absolutely gorgeous. I hope they have one at the AJC car show this spring.

the more i look at it, the more im disgusted by it : puke:
look at the first picture second row! WTF, the height of the front is MUCH lower than the back!
it has the nose of a 6er the eyes of a 5er, the ass of a Camry....... like ive been saying the whole time,"ITS A FRANKENSTEIN:flame:, get your torches!"
at least the inside is coo, besides the tv's in the back they stick out to far!
THE Z4 IZ BAD! (bad meaning good) SO SO SEXXY!

meh, 7 looks okay. I liked it a lot better in earlier photos. Its nice to finally see actual photos of the interior, which is severely lacking. I see a lot more plastic/cheap materials than wood and fine materials. I dont know about my fellow brethren on here, but i for one, am a sucker for wood in my vehicles.

Hence, Bentley>Benz>BMW

ok all u people complaining about the 7 looks should look into what has changed for the better..

1 - it looks Proportionate in real life, UNLIKE e65 66 which I OWN.
2 - C pillar to boot DONT LOOK F*ed up like E65 66.
3 - smaller windows to make the car look LOWER compared to e65 66
4 - because of camera lens, the grill looks out of shape, where in real life the whole care blends well.
5 - interior is FAR better, more leather and less light grey plastic. (WEIRD DOOR HANDLES THO in the inside)
6 - front bumpter dont look like a whale's lips anymore!!! E65
7 - lights now look like its part of the front body, well intergrated and aggressive.
8 - back looks like a LEXUS AND ITS A GOOD THING.
9 - it has EXHAUSTS NOW that we can see and LOOKS GOOD. unlik the old tubes that face the floor.
10 - WHEELS and wheel arches are well proportioned to each other, unlike before.
11 - A pillar looks well connected to the bonnet and body. smoothly flows into the body and top.

and much more... i love the

So, it would appear that cars equipped with the Sport Package (I'm assuming they're Sports, based on the shadowline trim around the windows) still have the ugly chrome strip across the trunk? Is that correct?

Appreciate the pictures!

Unfortunately, the nose is a direct response to new pedestrian safety laws that were passed in the E.U. a couple years ago. All european cars (and all cars sold in the E.U., for that matter) will eventually adopt similar profiles. The new X3, the next 1er, 3er, 5er, etc. (all new models, not facelifts, but new "F" numbered models) will get the same treatment. Get used to it.

I have a 7er that is an i and not an Li and I also have a 5er and their is no way a 5 series has as much room as a short wheel base 7 series.

i dont have to get used to anything! a car is 95% looks, if i dont like a car i wont even think about getting that particular one(F01) one day...... the way the economy has hit the auto industry making an UGLY car aint going to help your sells, IMO of course! :D

Could you elaborate a little more plz? You're saying the grill without the camera embedded in the kidneys looks better than one with the camera? Why? Is the camera really that obvious?

Thanks!

If I am not mistaken, the difference is that cars with the NV camera have less vertical slats in the grill, so that there is more space between the slats for the camera. Cars without the NV camera have more slats and, I think, look a bit more like a "traditional" BMW grill.

momo_oo[][]oo
02-04-2009, 08:56 AM
There is no NV camera behind the kidney grill, That's the ultrasonic sensors for the active cruise control the NV camera is located in the bottom part next to the fog lights.

New Motors

Not all correct. Night vision has a infrared camera behind the grill. The sensors you might be talking about are for PDC and lane Departure warning.

The monitor is also utilized for the optional Night Vision. The BMW system features an infrared camera located in the front kidney grill.

yeah, there are new exhausts.....the chrome accents are attached to the rear bumper....The actual exhaust pipes are still the cheap "shorties" that dont even attach to the chrome accents....maybe it should be called chrome bumper accents....that happen to be open where the exhaust should exit.
I've never driven the car, but I have had the chance to check one out here in Germany. I'd have to say its nice but still falls short of the S class.....Lets face it, the 7 competes in the luxury class where track handling is not the priority....moving people in class is....the S still leads.

The camera for night vision is in fact in the grill, it even has its own washer jet to clean it. The grill with NV has horizontal and vertical slats and was designed to not shake at autobahn speeds.

The the active cruise (like on other BMW models) is in the lower bumper.

+1 True, the trunk appears a little deeper, but narrow. Over all, I think it is smaller than e66. Personally, I'd prefer the wider trunk.

how is copying another manufactures design a good thing?

copying is not always a good thing, but actually bmw came up with the high boot design.. but lexus copyied it. but lexus did a better job in smoothening how it connects with the rest of the car. and bmw followed that example.

so its not really copy... everyone copys each other..but interpreted in their own way.

eg, other car makers copied merc's ABS right?
