I am getting some diagnostic messages that I need to understand better. Do you want to get some tool to erase a message if a problem is solved or does not exist?

Also if the display is showing a message like brake circuit problem does that mean other problems like coolant low will not have a place to come up or does it cycle.

We hit an animal and knocked out the foglight on one side, should I clear that message?

I have started looking in Bentley and I am sure there is something there to help but I am busy with my daughter today and just want to get something going to solve this problem.

Last night coming down a steep hill at a good clip I got a brake light message and the brake lights worked good when I checked them.

Man the 5 series is sure a nice smooth ride after 318ti and M3 cruising.

Thanks for the feedback, as always.

Multiple messages can display. They will alternate. Messages of that type clear when the problem is resolved. You do not need to reset the display. Tail light is a common message when the bulbs used are not OEM. And your LKM can cause faulty messages. LKM= lighting control module.

Replace the Fog light and the message will clear.

A bad brake switch might also be the cause of your brake light warning.

The displayed messages will clear when the problem is fixed. If you have or had a check engine light those codes can be stored for a while. If you need to clear them you can just disconnect the battery for a while.

Don't forget to check the high stop light, if it is out it also will cause the message.
