That sucks... Hope I can afford the lease rates when mine is up in 2010. But if it ends up being like $7-800 a month, I will surely weep...

yeah, and when you add the prem. package, cold weather pkg, and sport pkg you'll be looking mid 50's.

Yeah. Or the 1 series, which has lease payments, with rates considered, I could get a 3 series convertible for about the same, which is ridiculous considering the price difference!!! Plus any new model is always going to be high for the first year of 2. I will be shopping for mine in Sept of 2010 when my lease on my 07 is up. Historically, August-September has always been the best time for Z4 lease rates (money factor and residual value both) to my recollection. Maybe because August or September is the last month that the dealer has to order vehicles that are remaining to their allocation (usually most dealers here in LI, NY rarely stock any Z4s since they do not sell many, so they are always built to order). October on.... Bet time to buy leftovers of coarse. I will be praying in the meantime...

Yep, between inflation and recoup on new technology a fresh model almost always goes up 10% - 15% over the outgoing model...not to mention a couple percentage points here and there over the model's lifecycle. Look at the '01 M3, I think the base MSRP was somewhere around 47k...up to maybe 51ish after the 5 year run and the new '08 model is around 58k (coupe, apples to apples here).

My prediction is the "sDrive30" with the same engine as the current top of the line 3.0si will be priced about the same as the 3.0si. The sDrive35 will see a price increase.
The new car is gorgeous in the metal. Just saw and sat in it last week at the Dallas auto show. It is more elegant and upscale than the current Z4 and the Z3. I hope BMW makes the much rumored Z2.
Expect it in showrooms around the end of April, beginning of May.

They gave 0% financing, which is basically $6k off. The new M3 came out a lot cheaper than the previous model when you factor in the incentives. Now you can get an M3 with a discount on euro delivery too.
BMW has no pricing power in this market.
