I just purchased this 1996 328i converitble with 54k and have not yet purchased repair manual. I perform most of maintenance and repair work. Looking for member recommendations for repair manual.
Also, is the timing belt fiber or metal chain and when how often should I change out? Do I require special tools.
tnx in advance

All E36s have timing chain my friend. No belt here.
And why would you replace timing chain at 56K miles?
I have 224K on my 318, still original motor and timing chain.

Good news that the E36 has chain. my old m20 had a fiber belt and I changed it out few times. Any recommendations on a maintenance/repair manual
tnx
