View Full Version : What what you like to see next for a group buy (OEM parts)?

I'd like a few ideas on what others are interested in as a possible group buy item? Since group buys only work if we have a sufficient number of interested parties, I'd like to hear what others are interested in seeing for group buys.

Cutter Motors is willing to provide us with great deals on OEM parts and accessories, so if you've been itching for a particular OEM part, post here! Some ideas of what we can do: UGDO, alarms, split glass side-view mirror, CD changer, car covers, etc.

If you have a competitive price to beat, also let us know who the vendor is and the price... I will work with Cutter and try to beat that price.

OK Al, it looks like I need a UGDO by 8/15 or thereabouts. Circle has it for $135. Circle will charge shipping, while Cutter will (at least) charge me sales tax. The GB should be for both 82 11 1 470 458 (no sunroof like my car) and 82 11 1 470 125 (sunroof equipped cars). Anyone else need a garage door opener?

To keep the same train of thought, how bout an M3 lip spoiler? :D

I want to buy a BMW Noah car cover, so that's another suggestion. And this time I will get in on the GB. An alarm could be a possibility.

I'd say the split side mirrors from Al's list...

The only other thing that might be interesting would be a package of the parts needed for the rear fog light -- new switch, bulb holders, etc...

UGDO is really unecessary expense. Build your own for less than $10.

I'd like a thick, long pile carpet.
I rode in a friend's car in Taiwan (I think if was a Nissan, not sure, as they change names over there) that had soft long pile carpets. It felt so good that I took off my shoes to enjoy it.
Does BMW make one? If not, anyone know of a 3rd party?
I also would like the fitted sheep skin seat cover.

I asked about nice floormats some time back. I've never been in a Roller so I don't know what 'Wilton Carpets' feel like, but the factory mats in a friend's ancient Acura Legend have been my perpetual favorites.

I don't think a rear fog GB would work, as everyone would need a different LCM.

UGDO would be nice!!!!!! I have seen a lot of people looking for M3 Fog lights.

wait a couple of months and I'd be good for the alarm. There are only so many parts I can order BEFORE I get the darn car =/

4 weeks before I took delivery, I had the alarm, changer, clears and M3 steering wheel. :D It was great though... I sat my living room for those 4 weeks, holding the steering wheel while making vroom-vroom noises. The clears were laid out on the carpet, and the changer was in the back. It really helped pass the time.

I'm interested in the OEM E46 Alarm + Shock sensor. :) I think the going rate is about $215-225 in circle or something BMW. Hopefully Cutters can do better.

Serious (but not particularly exciting) suggestion - E46 M3 RSMs

We will all need them at some point (all E30s, E36s, and E46s can use these shock mounts) as they are know to fail quickly, often in under 30K miles. I have them on my car, but I'd get another set with a group buy price.

...but they're not very expensive, nor are they hard to get. I thought GBs were most helpful on pricier items or things that dealers will only special order.

Lessee...cup holder replacement tray; a kit of all the parts for rear fogs, the underseat first aid box and bracket; euro triangle; wheel hanger tool; UGDO; alarm...

You guys are trying to spend all my money.

Possibly if some of these items are too inexpensive for a group buy, put them together in a package. i.e. sell two first aid boxes, the brackets, the cup holder replacement tray, and the shock mounts all as one 'package' for a group buy.

If Cutter can't give us a great volume discount, maybe the packages could be sold without a group buy at some discount...it would at least save on shipping if you bought everything at once.

Interior trims (Birch Anthracite from the individual program in particular!) would be cool.

Interior trims (Birch Anthracite from the individual program in particular!) would be cool.As far as I know, the dealer has to provide the VIN of a car with that particular Individual trim to order replacement parts. I suspect an order for more than one set would get bounced even if a VIN was provided.

How about Sirius Radio Receiver?

I don't know if this would be possible, because I believe different body styles take different harnesses and/or antennas, but the most expensive part is the Sirius receiver itself, no?

I'm a new owner of a 2004 330ci Cabrio... and negleted to demand that a windscreen be thrown in with the cost of the car. I really wish someone had told me last month...

So anyways... if it's possible to get a good price on the e46 windscreen, i'd definitely be in!
Right now, the price to beat is $320 US.

how long does it take to set up a group buy anyways? ...cuz i'm not really willing to wait too long...

The dealer might not be happy about doing my initial "free" car programming 4 month after I've owned the car.

I think most dealers wouldn't mind too much... they're pretty good about stuff like that from what i hear...
I was VERY impressed with the level of service i was given at my dealership...

I'm in for an alarm too... but for an e46 cabrio, euro/canadian edition with the motion sensor thingy's you can't get in the states...

Hey,

I am also interested in the Alarm(im number 8) as well as the rolly top thingy that replaces the cup holders(hiding spot for my ipod). I was willing to run this groupbuy until I was told that only Alee can setup group buys for OEM.

The right part of the mirror is "flat", and the left part aspherical helping in reducing blind spots.

Anyone mentioned a group buy on V1's? :dunno:

The HACK

No such thing as a group buy on V1s. Valentine 1 radar detector is only distributed through Mike Valentine's company and no place else. I've inquired several times into organizing group buys, but they will NOT entertain the idean knowing that group buy or not, they're almost selling more than they can make.

The only thing I can suggest for the V1, is to find a local person that are looking to buy it and lump together to save a few bucks on shipping. Otherwise there is no savings to be had with V1.
