New to the board...just negotiated a deal on an 2007 BMW 550I with the following specs:
2007 BMW 550i (CPO)
Silver Gray Metallic
Black Dakota leather
6-Speed
Navigation
park-assist
Sport Pkg
Cold Weather Pkg
Comfort Package
Premium Sound Pkg
30K miles
$36000 + Tax & fees
Includes 2 year extended service warranty
Also, I noticed a slight hesitation in stop and go traffic when you first accelerate? is this common place...seems kind of herky-jerky...?
Is this a good deal? I negotiated for a week with the dealer...thanks

$6K delta between 530 versus 550I...?I was able to negotiate an extended service warranty into the cost of the car which would effectively place the sales price @ or around $34k? Any other thoughts?
Throttle hesitation in the 550i?

You are getting a good price... Got mine last month for $36K OTD w/o CPO but with a little bit more options and less mileage (18K mi).
With respect to throttle hesitation I've not experienced any but read about it here, You might be suffering from the adaptive transmission lag:
Here is a "cure" for it:

Its a good deal man, i got mine for the same price w/o the extended warranty but mine had only 20k miles.
Tell your dealer they got a deal if they throw in all weather floor mats, all weather cargo liner, and touch up paint.
You should test drive the 530 so you will be convinced that the 550i is a better buy.

having never driven a 545, question: are people satisfied with a 535 or still prefer a 550 when moving from a 545

I don't honestly think its that great of a deal... Diamond has an 06 on ebay, and with 44k miles, obviously not CPO and they are asking like $28k. $8k for 1 year, 14k miles, a few extra options (Comfort package = comfort seats I assume? and theirs does not have premium sound) and extended warranty doesn't seem worth it. $33k sounds closer to what it is worth to me

Seems like alot of 545 owners went to the 550i. I think some of them are counting there blessings after the issues that have came up with the 535. Personally I feel the 535 has had the most problems out of all the E60's.
Back to OP. I think you got a very good deal since you go the service thrown in. Without it I'd say a solid deal at 36K.

I think u did really well!
I got this deal 2 weeks ago...for $36K....
2006 BMW 550i CPO thru 12/2011
6-Speed
Silver Gray Metallic
Cold Weather Pkg,
Premium Sound Pkg,
Sport Pkg,
Satellite Radio
15k miles.
The mileage is the biggest difference I guess, I dont have NAV or many of the options you got.
It is a great car though! I love it!

I think it's a really good deal, especially if you will drive more than 15K per year so that you can take advantage of all the free inspections and brake jobs after 50K miles.

Why is it obvious that a car with 44K not be a CPO?:dunno:
Once the car exceeds 50K, you are on your own with service, maintenance and warranty. Even if the '06 in your example does not have anything break in the next 4 years, how much do you estimate you would have to spend in service, oil changes, wiper blades, micro filters and brakes? Add this total to your 28K, and the 2007 does not look like such a bad deal overall.

I'm new to the forum. Been lurking for sometime while shopping for an '07 / '08. Got an '07 550i / Titanium Slvr / Grey / Sport Pgk / Navi / Comfi Access / Park assist / Logic 7 / Sat Radio / Cold Weather Pkg. for $36.5 with 18k mi a week ago. Not CPO. Sorry, but that's just overpriced insurance IMHO... I have a great mechanic (had e39 530i sport which someone just totaled.. which had no real issues until its premature demise at 110mi. ) Trust him more that the crappy dealers here. My negotiating position was somewhat weaker given my pressing need for a replacement, but I looked and called and talked to a lot of folks over the last several weeks (and lurked here and there a bit too). I'd say your deal is pretty good. It's not so good that you should feel like you are steeling it and should buy it because of the price. But if you are looking to buy and those are the options you want, jump on it and don't look back. It's an awesome, awesome car. So far at just about any speed you push the pedal and there's lots more coming. Huge step up from the e39 530i (God rest its metal soul).
Good luck. I wish you well.

Ever had any problems with the throttle hesitation on your 550?

I have noticed a lag. You press the throttle a little... not much.. push it a little more... you are pushing the sound barrier... ok I exaggerate a little, but it's noticeable. I'll read up on "the fix". If I try it or take it to the dealer I'll let you know.

It just dawned on me what might be the issue. When I was testing the '08, the salesman said that even in sport mode the steptronic starts in 2nd gear... I wouldn't think that would be a problem with a manual tranny.

that looks like a fair deal.
I just got a 2007 550i Sport loaded..nav, pdc, cold weather, logic7, sirius, auto etc..etc....37k miles, CPO car $35k. I wanted lower miles but the car is warranty until 2013, 100k miles...hard to beat that...went into service in 2/2007.
I am going to quote around for the extended maintenance. If I can get it under $1300, I will get it.

Did you pull the trigger? I am questioning the deal, it is that good. The only thing I would of asked for was Sat radio or at least at dealer cost.

See Kopchelli's post above. Tranny reset might help.
