Yeah-- I don't "get it" either.

Don't need to load a new page to reply... so it's a bit faster.

Ditto

If you don't want to use it, don't use it. :p

Maybe there should be an option to turn it (and other control bars) off for people who don't want to use it. We have enough wasted screen real estate as it is.

That's true, old software was much "lighter".

And, considering how much slower pages load on the new S/W, that is a consideration.

Okay, this board (FOR ME) works much slower than it did before.

I guess I was blessed with normal fonts but got dogged on speed. And it doesn't seem to matter which machine I view it on. It's still a lot slower than it used to be.

I've had normal fonts at home (both on Safari/Mac and PC running WinXP Pro, IE6) and fonts were fine at work today (W2K, IE6). Speed has been fine at home on both machines, although page rendering is a *tad* slower at work than at home, but no slower than the old board sw.

I suppose that I have been blessed. :dunno:

My font situation is odd. They look fine everywhere except for text entry boxes (like what I'm typing this into) where they fonts are nearly double the size.

And I've mentioned this already but response time seems fine (except on a 233mmx wifi slowpoke I use occasionally).

No ability to quote messages.

Hey don't you have to use it if you hate it. You can go back to hitting the regular reply button. :dunno:

The reason you need to click a thread to "quick reply to" is for the threaded view. If you are replying to a specific person instead of quoting them you simply reply directly to that thread. This is how roadfly and several other threaded forums work. The ability to quote someone was devised because a linear view did not allow for direct replies to a person. Remember people can now view the forum in three different ways.

Thinks are done for a good reason, just because the reason is not obvious 100% of the time does not mean it is pointless.
