Hello you Crazy bunch!! my 1999 316 tourer has developed a fault any possible ideas what causes this greatly appreciated,

This may or may not be related before the lights came on i pulled away with the handbrake slightly on ( yes im a retard ) thats when they came on ! i also have a problem with the ASC when its very cold the warning light flickers, anybody else ever had this prob?? thanks in advance peeps..:)

How i understand it is both ABS AND ASC work in conjunction with eachother so if theres a ABS fault they both go of line and vice versa, they both share the wheel speed sensors as far as i can make out, im sure someone knows exactly whats wrong.

You've answered your own question. One or more sensors is buggered and needs replacing. They are in a position where they get covered in dirt and are exposed to the elements.

Are you getting ABS cut in when it shouldn't, or jerky acceleration?

Try braking on loose gravel if there isn't any ABS, this needs immediately fixing. Traction control isn't really an issue with 100 BHP unless you are spinning the steering wheel around while you hit the pedal or accelerating on loose grave, so if that fails, who cares! :)

I had a bit of an idea it might be the sensors, i did have a bit of a judder, but i just put the jet wash into the hubs and (fingers crossed ABS AND ACS IS BACK, LIGHTS OUT) so thanks for youre help, there must have been a bit of dirt on the sensors cheers m8 all the best.

Wow you solved it, nice one! Usually the sensors have to be replaced but I guess yours were fouled up rather than actually damaged.

If you jet washed them, I'll give it a few weeks before your problem comes back. Hopefully it stays fixed, but really, I'd be surprised if it does.
