View Full Version : Angels Eyes or Smileys?

I need to get new headlights for my E34 ( mine are cracked) i was originally thinking that i wanted Angel Eyes but i was recently told that they are TACKY by a buddy of mine who is a E30 owner, He said they belong on Hondas and Toyotas. Newer BMW's come with HALO's or ANGEL EYES whichever you'd like to call them, But I dont want ANYTHING tacky on my car so i decided to go with the Euro Smileys with the "citylight". I am wondering what my fellow E34 owners think about this. Which would you go with? Are angel eyes "tacky"?

Smiley or bust.

Angel eyes are a neat look, but not on the e34. They fit on the newer models, but since the e34 has the rounded headlights already there are just too many circles up front.

I associate angel eyes with BMWs. Whenever I see angel eyes behind me, it's a BMW 100% of the time. Maybe we just don't have the Hondas with them in our town... but I (usually) like them.

I've only seen like maybe one honda and a Lexus IS250 with angel eyes. IDK I just dont want my car to look tacky.

Yeah. Maybe it's only the new BMWs I like them on. Haven't seen them on an older BMW in person.

I love them on the newer cars.

I think everyone (including me) at some point, especially right when they get their e34, thinks they want halo's, but I can't tell you how thankful I am that 2 years later I'm rocking the smileys! They have the best look out there and especially when paired with HID's they have great light output. Try to find the Hella ones, they will show up on ebay from time to time or look for European's on this forum or bimmerofums.com. There was a guy selling some on there a few weeks ago, and he is scrounging around for me I believe.

Halo's really do only look good on the newer model BMW's. It's because of the fact that our lights are already rounded as previously mentioned. Smiley's look good if you decide you really crave something up there, personally I have the oem stock stuff with a new bulb, and was happy.

I say it's your car do what you want I know the majority would not agree but I have never really liked smiley's but what you want is what matters

all of my e34s have smileys.i like them a lot
i put HIDs on all of them both low beams and the fog lights i think they look great..if you want i could get you smileys from a junk yard from here in UK..might be cheaper than online.if you don't have the projector style fog lights i would recommend them as well.works great with HIDs this is what they look like on and off

I've been thinking. I have projectors on my car and smileys arent really worth paying for. I do need to replace my headlights though since mine are broken (classic golfball accident) I may just try to find some replacements for mine maybe in a junkyard and do an HID conversion and and smoke them. Sounds like a better plan I think. IDK my mind isnt made up still.

i dont see a diffrence except that one is like a yellow light and the other is blue...either way ive always associated angel eyes with bmw's..always...they look tacky on hondas or anything else...my question is what do you do when one of those things blows? how do you replace the lighting? is there a regular bulb behind it or do you have to get a special more expensive bulb?
