This happens to me too. I read in the manual that if the windows sense blockage they stop and go down a little (like if your hand is in the way) so I assumed there was something blocking it. I opened it up and greased everything and looked through the whole window but it still does it. Furthermore, I noticed that if I do put pressure on it with my hand it just keeps going up and doesn't stop like it should.
I have no clue, but I would love it if someone would shine a little light on this conundrum.

Very common problem, happens to me as well. I just apply firm pressure to the "up" button the entire time as though my window did not have an auto up feature. This seems to get my window all the way up 99% of the time. Would love to know how to fix the problem though so I can actually use the auto up feature.

My 92 does the same thing. I've taken it to a power window shop and the mech. told me that the switch had a short in it. I purchased the switch and now I'm going to put it in, probably tomorrow morning. I'll post the results when I finish the work before I head to my job.

When the doors open on the coupes, the window goes down a little and when its shut the window goes back up for a good seal - I mean, partly the reason for getting a car is to not get wet right.
Maybe the window thinks the door is open? But surely if there was a short in the switch it just wouldnt work or stop every so offen while you wind up the window?

Yeah, bump, same problem. I've heard it's the sliders that the glass sits in, so I've bought some and am going to try replacing them along with greasing everything up like above poster mentioned but other than that, not sure what it is. :/

Also happens with my 95, only on the drivers side. I have to push the up button 5-10 times, in short bursts to get it up. I bought the car used, and the receipts tell me the previous owner actually had to replace window motor, so I consider myself lucky that it is still seviceable.

Get a small paintbrush and dust the inside of the rubber seal on your window runners with powdered graphite. I have never had a car that did not respond well to this treatment.

If the window motor didn't work, it wouldn't push the window up at all. Same deal if part of the window winder mechanism broke. It's more like it's being overly sensitive with the pressure sensor when it's hitting resistance from seals or from just not being seated right. I'm hoping to get a chance to look at it tomorrow providing the weather's dry.

Mine does that too..Goes halfway up and then starts going down. I try after sometime and it goes up to full. If I press continously up it goes half up and then down completely..
Too many issues !!

Here is how to solve the problem...

It is usually the microswitch in the door latch that goes bad. Easy fix and not expensive.
