I'm all grins!! Got my new '08 M3 a couple months ago--took me awhile to post. E92 Coupe, DCT, beautiful SG w/ silver novella, completely loaded! I'm totally juiced every time I get in it! It's like a drug...

As much as I would love to mod it up right away, it's a leased car (got a deal on the '08 that I couldn't walk away from!). My question is what mods are acceptable from a warranty perspective, and what has to be stripped off when the car is turned in? I've heard exhausts do, for sure. But what about filters, spacers, tires, rear spoiler, etc, etc. If I knew right now that I would definitely be buying out the lease in 3 years, I'd go for it. I know this is pretty naive question, but, hey, this is the right place to learn. Thanks in advance.

Your dealer cannot void the warranty for any single modification. They have to prove that a modification is causing a specific issue with the car before refusing warranty service. They can also only refuse warranty service on that specific problem. For instance, if you install suspension and have a bushing go bad because of the harsher suspension, they can refuse to fix the bushing but cannot refuse to fix a problem with the navigation (for example).

Most standard bolt ons will be easy to take on and off- exhaust, pulleys, software, wheels, suspension. You can also do basic exterior add ons like the Vorsteiner Front and rear as they install over the factory bumpers and are removable.

GET ALONG WITH THE S.A.! (as far as warranty issues) but the lease turn in... just keep as much of your stock parts as possible. It will probably be pretty easy to sell your mods in 3 years. I do the lease inspections at my dealership and stuff like painted reflectors, grilles, tint, are okay. I am mostly looking for damage and safety issues... do not tint your tailights but like ^ nick said just try and stick to bolt ons and you should be fine. hope I didn't confuse you haha
