I stopped by my dealer to ask him to hold a 535i allocation for me when I come off my 550i lease at the end of July '09. He says this would get me an F10.

Search results are murky. Anyone confirm or deny that F10s will be available by then?

The '09 Model year for the E60 was just cut short in order to start the '10 Model year beginning this month. I highly doubt that BMW will shorten ANOTHER Model year just to introduce the F10. In fact, I don't think in all of BMWUSA history have they ever had 2 shortened model years back to back.

This year is the start of the F01 (new 7 Series).....next year is reserved for the F10.
Do another search....the results aren't that 'murky'. :)

Another proof that a sales would say anything. F10 would be officially annouced in the coming Frankfurt Auto Show in September. That means you are not seeing the production car until 2010 spring?? at least.

I'm betting he meant to say that you'd be getting an '10 (0-10) 535i.

My dealer told me end of '10 for the F10, which sounds about right for a '11 model.

My boss just ordered one - he gets it in 6 to 8 weeks, according to the dealer. 535, all wheel drive.

Most of us are expecting the F10 in the spring of 2010 as an early 2011 model.

He didn't order an F10. He ordered an E60.

The E39 and E60 were on a seven year replacement cycle. I don't remember the E60 launch exactly, but I bought my 1997 model E39 through BMW overseas sales in March of 1996 and it was delivered to my stateside dealer in June 1996. I had one of the early E39's in the U.S. I expect that pretty much the same thing will happen with the F10. Preview at this fall's Frankfurt auto show and launch as a 2011 model in March/April 2010 with first U.S. deliveries in June/July timeframe. This may be off a little, but I bet not by much.

FYI I picked up my E60 in October of 2003 from my local dealer. I think it was one of the first shipments into the US.

That sounds about right. The post above about ordering one that will be here in 6-8 weeks is definitely an E60.

When will the F10 550ix Touring come? That'd be the ultimate family car.

How about a F11 555iT (Let's not do the x-drive this time)

How about a F11 555iT

A '555i' likely means that (as usual) BMW is going to draaagggg out the introduction of new engines (and possibly other features) in one way, shape, form or another.

I would guess that a 555i, whatever that is, won't be available until the 2nd or 3rd model year run of the F10, and they'll just use the current model designations in the 1st year. I really HATE when they do that, even though I'd have a hard time just affording the TT 6 cylinder, let alone whatever V8 they come up with. :(

I disagree. I think you will see the same 4.4TT V-8 in the new 5er's that is in the X6 and the new 750i right off the bat along side of the 3.0TT I-6. Remember, BMW has the new Audi A6 / S6 / RS6 to contend with and since the A6 already beat the current E60 5er in the Car & Driver 5 @ 50K comparo the bar has been raised. BMW has made it clear that forced induction is the future of their engine program. I just can't wait to see what ends up in the new M5 / M6.

Absolutely we will.
I just doubt that that's what the 555i designation is for, because there's no reason
to use it right now.

There will most definitely be a 550i F10 with the introduction next Spring. It will be the same motor that is in the 5 GT, the 750i, and the X6.

If "555i" actually ever gets used (just because it was registered doesn't mean it will get used) my guess is it may be more likely on a 5-Series hybrid. I suspect that there's little chance we will see an increase in displacement, more likely we might actually see the 8-cyl, turbo or not, disappear from the 5-Series. All speculation.

Another post in the Ask a Dealer forum seems to support the Spring introduction.

I was at a showing last night of the 550 GT (nice car, combination of a 7 series and x6) at my local Center and there was a represnetative there from the factory. As we were talking I asked him when the F10 would be out and he said the world wide dealer launch will be in March 2010 (the same time as the Geneva Car Show) and not to expect the car at US dealers until sometime in mid to late June 2010. This makes sense given the fact the car will not be shown for the first time until the Geneva show. Hope this information is helpful.

No, it's true.
I don't know how BMWNA expects to sell mid-size sedans against the new E-Class.
My source says a memo went out dated 9/30/09 to all dealerships stating production
of the E60 ends 12/31/09, and the F10 gets rolled out in June as follows:

535/550: June
528: July
Xi models (including GT) : sometime later, October maybe.:(

Any idea if the F10 will be available for ED in May 2010? I mean, it will be in production, but will it be released for ED buyers? TIA.
