saw a new 535 with sport package and it has the m5 wheel with the normal paddle shifters for the sport transmission. anyone know a part number for the wheel. i'd love to swap out the one on my 550 sport for the m5 wheel.

The only difference is the dark hued metal inserts instead of polished and the M badge, right? If so you are one can of spray paint and an M badge as used on the wheels away from having the same steering wheel.

no, the m5 steering wheel has a different softer leather as well as having finger indents at 10 and 2 on the wheel. you are correct about it being all black and having the m logo.

It's not the //M5 steering wheel .. it is the //M SPORT steering wheel (the //M5 steering wheel is well .. exclusive to the //M5). Yes it is different than the regular sport package steering wheel in the following ways:
1. It does not have the galvanized side trims ... it's all black
2. As mentioned it does have the thumb rests on the 10/2 positions
3. It is made of smooth leather .. very similar to the leather feel on the actual //M5 steering wheel
4. It does have the //M badge on the steering trim (on the bottom of the wheel)

.. It very much looks like the //M5 wheel WITHOUT the //M tri-color stitching (which if you ask me should not be on any car but a designated //M)

To the OP ... look for an M-SPORT wheel. Ebay may be a good place to start as well.
