Hi my mates 318 is coupe has been draining his battery if left more than 5 hours batterys good and alternater ok hes just phoned saying hes burnt his finger on the door lock and it seems to be constintly red hot any one know how to dissable this function so it stops draining the battery thanks

Take the door panel off and rip out the wires that are obviously shorting out. Figure out how to fix it later.

Dumbest thing i have ever heard... Go back to your honda's rice boy.

Bigfilly... Do not listen to him. Ripping out those wires would be the last thing you want to do. As it will disable all your locks. Get a shim and open up your door panel. Inspect the area around the door lock. Check the ground, Check for any loose connection's. Its probably something very simple.

Why is it dumb? The lock is definitely grounding out. And anything can be fixed. It's pretty easy to rewire your door locks.I've done it and i'm sure you've done it at least once. Something is grounding out and not tripping a fuse which means damage is also being done somewhere else. I admit I was a little gung ho with the rip it out stuff. But if the wires are cut at least he'll be able to drive the car if he has to without worrying about getting stuck.
