Over heating and Cooling problems

hello, andrew here from charlotte. i have a 97' 328i. well a week ago the thermostat got stuck,, so i replaced it myself. well now its overheating when i drive it lets say 3-5 miles. maybe its getting stuck again? maybe the water pump? it is losing coolant when it over heats and today i was tring to bleed the air out of the sytem and the overflow resevoir exploded! i have became very angry and dont know what to do. and i dont know what the problem is either.
