I got this useless cell phone in my 545i thats taking up all of my storage space in the center console. Its a cingular CDMA phone, not even GSM so yeah useless. I really cant find anything on how to take it out, anyone know of a guide or how to? I cant find any screws on it or near it and really don't want to tear apart the whole dash area. Ideas?

If you lift up the hinged base the phone cradle is on, there should be 4 torx screws (circled in red below):

Here's a DIY for installing a snap-in adapter I did a while back--you could just reverse the order to disconnect and remove the cradle:

Taking out the entire assembly is quite an involved process that involves removing a lot of the interiror trim pieces from the center console. You can remove the phone base plate as described above and then install a small storage compartment tray in its place. The storage compart try part # is 51167114124 (I think).

You can indeed get a snap-in adapter for the iPhone 3G. The part number is 84212151038. Do some research as you may need additonal parts. Give Garry Romani a call at BMW of Newport, 401-847-9600 ext 2448, for the best pricing.

No, the snap-in adapter is purely a phone charger and it will not activate bluetooth in your car.

:thumbup:Great instructions - the photos are very helpful.
:)I also have a attached a copy of PN # 01 29 0 403 645 (Communication, Hands-Free) Installation Instructions Version 6.0 dated November 2007.

:dunno:I have one problem. Both your thread and the Installation Instructions say to use the Eject Box for Snap-In P/N 84 21 6 946 075; BUT the dealer ordered P/N 84 10 9 160 935 saying that it "interchanges" with the P/N shown in your thread and the Instructions.

:confused:For the 3, 5 and 6 series cars (7 series comes standard with the eject box built-in) the instructions clearly state (page 5 for the 5 series): Correct eject box P/N 84 21 6 946 075 must be used to ensure proper functionality of snap-in adaptors and also to: verify that the eject box, is P/N 84 21 6 946 075 and marked with "TCU" lettering underneath coin tray and FAKRA antenna connector has a yellow band near connector

:rolleyes:Has anyone used the "interchange" P/N 84 10 9 160 935?
