I priced out the new Z4 on BMW's North American website adding the same features I have in my existing Z4 minus the folding tin roof and came out just under $55 large. I then added in navigation, cold weather, and park distance control and am over $58 large. I don't see how BMW can justifiy these kind of prices. That's 13 grand more then my 06 was priced, A damn folding tin roof is not worth that kind of increase. A well equiped 3 series sedan can be had for 35 large so what's up with this!! I'm afraid BMW has delt a death blow to the Z4 with this pricing.:tsk:

Which model did you price? You realize even the sDrive 30 has the better engine version compared to yours, right?

Not necessarily, the sDrive30i has the same engine as the 3.0si.

BMW seems to have targeted a slightly different demographic for the new Z4.

The're all the N52 engine, yes a few tuning differences between the 3.0i and 3.0si but an N52 is a N52!! I never bought into BMW charging 7 grand more for the si engine either. I do know that either one will take us to 150MPH! Is there really a need for more? :bigpimp:

Yes, but the OP doesn't have the 3.0si.

Be that as it may to get an "apples to apples" comparison you really have to look at a 3.0si and an sDrive30. To me those extra 40 horses and 35 lb/ft of torque in the 3.0si are pretty noticeable. :)
But, you're point is taken; BMW is moving the new Z4 up the market ladder. Hopefully, the Z2 will make it to production.

It's not a death blow. The new Z4 (to be called the Z2) along with the "new" Z4 will make more money. Just be patient.

I too was a bit shocked by the price increase. Yeah, many "upgrades" but I don't recall ever asking for them and the new hardtop, well, for all the extra it costs for that "benefit" I can count on not being able to open the top when I do my shopping (trunk size of the ragtop being a big plus when I chose my '07). Something t6ells me that once my lease is up, I won't be able to afford a 2011. The way I see it, will likely be over $700 a month , or at least close based on how I priced my car comparably. Guess it's time to start looking harder at the 3 or the 1 as a next car....

I feel the same way - although my monthly payment estimate is closer to $900/month with the Z4 equipped comparably to my E93 (with an MSRP just south of $60K)
That 1-series isn't inexpensive, but it's looking better. :yikes:

Just because I like to dream, and do it from my computer where I am less likely to make an impulsive decision, I have priced out a 3.0i twice. Difference in base price between 08 3.0si and 09 3.0i (compared due to HP comparability) can account for it being a completely new model, new technology, folding roof etc. But the packages too are a little but NUTS.
Premium pack is now $3,900. For electric seats, garage door opener, auto dimming mirrors, climate control and leather, really? (specially since leather isnt leather anymore - unless its nappa, which is an additional .......)
Premium pack on an '08 was $3,550, which was for the same additional features above, plus electric top (now incl in additional base price as discussed), so, why $3,900 now??
Sport pack is now $2,300, upgraded wheels, sports seats, Adaptive M suspension (I assume this means true adaptive with comfort mode, sport mode etc?)
Sport pack on an '08 was $1,200 for upgraded wheels and sport suspension, sport button (kind of pointless and I dont know what the difference is on the E85 suspension aside from the sport being lower and feeling stiffer).
Seems like pretty hefty increases there too. Looks like a will be waiting a few years at least for these to start turing back in, and see the waterfall depreciation on the overpriced packages, then if I a still want a roadster, I may take another look.

Agreed. I think they are looking for the 'more money than brains' demographic.

I don't see an option for the DSG on BMWUSA Site yet. Is that going to be available?

09 on the lot today was at 61k with all the options. 3.5S blue metal exterior and the ivory white trim package inside. The wow factor is there. But beyond my pay scale. The slightly less endowed 3.0S with manual 6 speed was at 51k.
