I have a question.

I've got and E46 3 Series (2000 328Ci). I had a set of Goodyear GSD 3's on my car and they were fantastic but wore really fast. Since I like to do autocross I think I want to get a 3rd set of wheels for my car.

I want to get a set of tires for everyday driving and would like to get some A/S tires that are not directional so I can rotate them. I'm thinking of getting the ASA AR2 wheels in 17X8 with 235/45/17s which I'm pretty sure will fit no problem. I realize the stock size is 225 but I'd like the extra width and I"m not concerned the tire diameter will be marginally larger.

Anyhow my two questions are:

1) Can my choice of tire and wheel be confirmed as fitting properly
2) What utlra high performance all-season tires can I get that are NOT directional

I figure this setup allows me to rotate front to back as well as side to side.

The AR2 wheels are 40mm offset, so fitment will be close with 235/45R17. I'd say there is a good chance it will fit, but there is also a chance that the front fender lips might need some rolling.

Top A/S choices that aren't directional would include the Dunlop Sport Signature and the Goodyear Eagle GT, .

Thanks Gary. I think I'll go with 225s then.

One of my friends told me that radial tires cannot be rotated side to side since it changes the direction of travel. Is there any truth to this?

Only true with directional tires, not all radial tires.
