Hello there everyone,
I hope someone can help me? I have a 1992 318i 3 series and all of a sudden the indicators won't work, also if I try the Hazard lights they don't function either, well I have checked the fuses and they seem fine. So I hoping someone could guide me in the right direction on what to do next, my multi-meter is at the ready!!,
kind regards sirstanleybowles

Hello and thanks for your prompt reply, can you tell me where its located and is it possible to repair it, no worries if it can't I'll buy another from a BMW person I know,

no can do on the repair, it is located with all of your other fuses. I think in the owner's manual it points out the exact one in which it is. It is not a relay you can get at a typical auto shop as they have a different teeth pattern. The dealer is going to be around $80 USD, might try shopping online for a used one.

Hi DNRC,
Yes I managed to find out the detail, its as you say located with the other fuses is in position 8 and is the relay 61.36-1388 546, I have ordered this relay through an excellent ebay seller who I have used on a number of occasions, he charged me £5 in P+P... a pure bargain!!
So I hope that when it arrives it cures my problem otherwise I will be back on here whining!!
hehe
thanks for your kind help

wow, good deal! I paid $20 USD for a used one when my E36 did the exact same thing, guess the parts are cheaper on your side of the world :p

This may sound silly but have you checked your bulbs? Are you sure that new relay is working? I had problems with my compact's hazards when my friend kept turning them on when i was driving! Opposite problem though i couldnt turn them off :( Anyway the problem was under the hazard switch one of the wires was "pinching" on a screw thus earthing it and keeping it on.

Hi Sean,
Thanks for that, I didn't check my bulbs as I feel that all six indicator bulbs going at the same time would be rather unlucky and improbable really.
So any others ideas anyone would be gratefully accepted,

I was fixing to say that the relay should have fixed it, I would have felt bad if it didn't :p

I have the same issue - no turnsignals or hazard flashers. I replaced the blinker relay with a good one and still no turn signals or blinkers.
Does anyone have another solution?

I went through them but they're difficult to see if one's burnt out. Are there any I'm missing other than the one's in the engine compartment? My 540 has fuses in the engine compartment, glove box and trunk of all places. Tnx.

test lights are dirt cheap, make easy work of testing fuses.

Good point. After years of owning my 540 I bought a 1995 318i euro. It'll take me a bit to familiarize myself with this car..so far it's been proven to be a fun little car. Tnx.
