So I have the BMW bump and squeaks, RSM's needing replacement, which to choose? Aftermarket or OEM?

Go to bavauto.com You can do the Mahle Version which is upgraded and has some reinforcement. The original equipment Bogue ones are 12 bucks a pop. I just ordered the OE ones with the optional metal reinforcement plate for the body. The Mahle RSM's i believe are 30 a piece. If you have the cash i've heard great things about the upgraded ones, also you can use the RSMs off of the M3 Convertible which should be not too dissimilar from the Mahle ones. Good luck!

Is replacing the Rear RSM's a DIY project? I'm no novice; I've swapped motors in muscle cars and getting my fingernails dirty and the backs of my hands banged up isn't going to deter me. Is there a step-by-step guide somewhere? Couldn't locate one in a Search.

I went with rsm's from turner motorsport...only like 50 bucks and have a lifetime warranty

It's just freaking amazing how replacing such a small and simple part can quiet down the Rear End of your E36, as did replacing the RSM's did for me. Toughest part of the job was trunk panel removal.

When I bought the car, the Spare Tire and Jack Handle weren't in the car. I think the previous owner thought the noises he heard from the rear end was something rattling in the boot. Perhaps I'll drop him an email and let him know it was the RSM's, an $11 part that was easily replaced.
