A Weird Feeling...

Hello, it's Caleb the newb. My car is a 96 328is, automatic, and has 148k. I've owned the car now for just about 2 months. The only thing that has happened so far is, the first day I had it, about 2 hours after I drove off the lot the check engine light came on, dang...fist day! I know!. The light was for a camshaft position sensor which I've found anywhere from 160-80 bucks. What's yall's experience on the sensor? Anything special to note on these? The next thing I have noticed is that when I'm cruising along the car feels like it has a resistance to it, like im getting hit by small burst of wind but it's a slight feeling.If I hold the car at a certain RPM and speed I can really tell, but the feeling is at all speeds. I was thinking it could be either wheel bearings starting to show first signs of failure or my fuel filter needs changing, maybe plugs? Any input would be greatly appreciated.

Was that the only code? Post the list of code numbers please. Quite frankly, if you drove it off the lot and 2 hours later it had a problem, the dealer almost 100% knew about it and covered it up. Technically when you buy a car used it's As-Is, but some threats of reporting them to the BBB should be considered.

Anyway, chances are the odd feeling is from the sensor being on the fritz. Fix that before you worry about other problems.

those symptoms sound like a bad camshaft position sensor just like the light says. If the sensor is malfunctioning the computer doesn't know when the valves are opening or closing, in turn the fuel injection goes wacky. Replace the sensor and your problem should be resolved. If you haven't got one yet, a Bentley repair manual will be your best friend.

Thanks fellas, cool, good deal then, I'm planin on fixing it this week, the other code that showed up was an o2 code in the history banks but not as a pending code. Sorry don't have the code number.
