My current (stock) wheels are:

Front 18x8.0
Rear 19x9.0

Tires
Front 225/45
Rear 255/40

I'm upgrading to wheels that are:

Front 19x8.5
Rear 19x9.5

And I want to make sure that tires fit well and keep the car balanced.

What I'd like to do for a set up is:

Tires
Front 245/35
Rear 265/35

But almost noone does this. When I do the math it seems like the closest set up as far as rolling circumference and tire/wheel width percentage goes. So if this is true, why doesn't anyone do this?

Is there any downside as far as handling goes that I'm not considering?

Thanks.

245/35R19 tires are almost a full inch shorter in height than the 265/35R19. A correct diameter match to teh 245/35R19 for the rear would be 275/30R19.

Ahhh, I'm trying to match up against the stock diameters, but forgot about the front/rear pair diameter. Thanks.

So aside from the 7mm height difference from front to rear, is there any other downside? I'm thinking of trying it out to see what happens...The hope is that the car will be more balanced and less prone to understeer.
