Can you replace one tire?

I have a 330ci with M3 sports wheel package and my car was hit. Now one rear tire has to be replaced and the other has 10,000 miles on it. Will this hurt the drive-ability of the car? Should both tires be replaced at the same time?

Depends how worn the tyre is - 50% at a guess? By 10,000 miles it is likely to be several mm of tread thinner and although not sure if that would place significant strain on the diff , don't forget you will then always have tyres which are mismatched from then on. So grip may be a little different from one side to the other - if you like spirited driving this may be an issue.

I would tend therefore to replace the pair and keep the 50% worn one in case it happens again. Or sell it?
