Every so often I hear three distinct beeps coming out of somewhere in the dash. This only happens once almost every time I drive the car. It sounds like an alert to a possible problem but I don't see any messages flashing anywhere. Any ideas?
Also, is there any way to change the temp. display for the auto temp control from deg C to deg F?
Thanks in advance.

Speed limiter function on your OBC. It will beep everytime you go over the set speed. I dont know what kind of OBC you have, 8 button? But you should have a button on there to turn everything from metric to standardized. should be under the time clock I believe. I havent driven my bimmer since last August :-( due to an engine failure.

Hour notification. Does it happen at the top of the hour? :)

Isn't there a thread here on how the poster heard three beeps before his engine seized!? :D

It's a warning that your driver's side ejector seat is about to fire.

i know you get 3 beeps if the temp its 3 degrees Celsius or lower to worn the drive that there might be the possibility of ice on the road.
but don't think its around that temp now is it?

Ignore the yahoos that don't want to give out answers. It is the Hour Chime most likely. Turn it OFF by pressing the MEMO Button.

If you have the memo button on it will chime a few minutes before every hour to let you know to tune into the hourly news. Sounds crazy but im almost positive that was the reasoning. If the outside temperature reaches 38*F it chimes as well to let you know it is approaching freezing(32*F) outside and the roads can become slippery.

Nope! Single beep for extremely frigid weather and no there's no such thing as a warning for potential ice on the road on the E36's or any car (that I know of) for that matter!
