I just picked up a CPO 2006 330i with sport package and 35,000 miles. I noticed this weekend that the right front tire has a slight bulge in the sidewall. I plan to bring it into the dealer in the next day to take a look.

Assuming the tire needs to be replaced, what is the tread difference allowed in order to not have to replace both tires. It has the OEM Bridgstone Potenza RE050A RFT. I believe new is 10/32". I saw from another post that 4/32" difference is acceptable. Therefore, if I have 6/32" or more left on the other tire, it would not need to be replaced? Is this correct? If I am right around this 6/32" depth, would I be wise in replacing both front tires just to keep everything equal, etc.?

They put new tires on the rear as part of the CPO. The front tires had enough tread left to not need to be replaced - but would not expect them to be the original tires with 35,000 miles.

The 4/32nds differential applies to all-wheel drive cars and won't likely hold any water with the dealer. If you're having to replace on your own dime, I'd try one new tire first. If you then get pulling issues, you can then replace the other front tire.

I just replaced one with a bubble and have had no issues. There was 13k on the tires when I replaced one of them (front) so not much tread had disappeared yet.

What does it mean "13k on the tires"?

Typically that means 13,000 miles of wear put on the tires.
