4.29????? Holy sh*t dude......I hope you're changing the tranny cuz on a stock 325 tranny you won't have a use for 1st gear with 4.29s.

Do your car a favor and get some new headlights, foglights, wheels, and a decent paintjob first.........yuck. : puke:

Seriously, in OC area I'm sure there are plenty of shops that can regear diffs. A lot of restoration/muscle car type shops are probably familiar with it - I'd start by calling them and getting some recommendations.

Your first problem is the auto trans, swap that then worry about your "diff ratio" or simply get another performance diff.

Apologies for the cynical remark but in all honesty, why in the hell would you put all this time and money into this vehicle with an auto trans (no offense other autos)? Manuals are much better and more enjoyable for the kind of car you are trying to build. You have an auto trans that will blow in no time once so ever with the upgrades you are doing, you are trying to put more low end into a auto trans, think about it if you know anything about BMW autotrans! I believe I read somewhere that the early e36's Getrag auto's are made by none other then General Motors, which in turn is built to fail at any time. Put a manual in it, and don't forget to upgrade your clutch and flywheel. IMHO of course...

Don't be lazy and do some research in YOUR area and get a MANUAL TRANS!

Previous postings (and editings) aside, I can sympathize with the bum knee problem. I've got the same difficulty. I can't drive a stick any more, since I can't continuously use a clutch. After just a little vigorous driving/shifting my left knee gets too weak to continue. It's a bummer if you must drive an automatic Bimmer. I make due.
