On my 2010 650i the iPhone with the new iPhone 3.0 software works without any perceptible difference from the prior software version. It runs without problems based on a one hour drive.

Yes I did. It is actually quite good. I purchased a cradle for the iPhone for another $180 which just makes it a little more convenient to slide the phone in and listen to all of its content through iDrive. What you can't do is use one of the programmable buttons to pick a particular playlist or genre to listen to.
