I may have an idea here. Instead of sleeping in car ( which may not be a good idea after reading posts and thinking about it more, wouldnt be comfortable, etc), thought of an idea of a small tent, camping tent. One that folds and can easily be carried on luggage on trip over and turns into a little tent ( they kinda look like igloos). My son has one and thats when the idea just hit me to bring one of them, but the trick would be where to pitch the tent so its not so noticeable, but i think i can do that for a night. I think it beats sleeping in the car.

It is also illegal to sleep for more than 1 night in the car. You can do 1, but not 2.

That's a good idea to have fun and save money for hotel.

Anyone know if there is any camp ground in Fussen area?

Try these two:
http://www.camping-brunnen.com/home-en.html
http://www.camping-hopfensee.de/202.html?L=1

We didn't stay at either of these. I just did a google search for "camping fussen germany".

For anyone serious about camping, I would recommend getting a book of campgrounds for Europe or even better, for the country or countries which you plan to visit. We bought a campground book in France at one of the gas stations along the highway as we hadn't made a definite plans aside from the campground in Paris. The book was at least an inch thick.
