Greetings,

I have the factory HK radio in my 328is. The displays' back light appears to be burnt out. I can still read the dial with a flashlight, so I assume the display is still working.

Does anyone know how to replace the light or lights in the radio? Are than more than one? Could there be another problem?

If your radio's main unit is the C33 Alpine, here's a great write-up I had found and used last week to fix mine. It typically isn't the bulb, but rather the small solder connections that have broken. Check out the link below. Hope that helps.

The link to that article doesn't work. Can we try again?

Thanks

Try this one. It should work. Good luck. Once the radio is out and apart, with the tape deck removed, skip down to the part where it talks about the tiny surface mount resistors. From what I've heard, this is me most common reason. A little solder and a steady hand, and you should have a brand new radio again. Good luck.

It appears that article is for the Blaupunkt radio. My 1996 328is has a Harmon Kardon unit in it.
