Product Planning & Strategy Bulletin
Model Year 2010 7 Series
July, 2009

The all-new 7 Series launched on March 6, 2009 and the vehicle has been received with tremendous success. To build upon this momentum we are pleased to announce that for Model Year 2010 the 760Li will be added to the 7 Series lineup as well as xDrive, intelligent all-wheel drive. All Model Year 2010 7 Series will begin production in September 2009. The new BMW 760Li Sedan is taking over the top position in our model portfolio, delivering the highest level of driving refinement in its segment. Powered by a twin-turbo charged 6.0 liter all aluminum V12 engine with 535 horsepower that delivers 550 lb-ft, the 760Li is the fastest BMW with a 0-60 time of 4.5 seconds. This is the first time that xDrive will be available on the 7 Series, and expands our product offering so that xDrive is now available on every BMW sedan. The 750i xDrive and 750Li xDrive will be powered by the same twin-turbo charged V8 engine as the RWD models. The initial 0-60 times are 5.0 seconds for the 750i xDrive and 5.1 seconds for the 750Li xDrive ***8211; that's 1/10 of a second faster than the RWD models proving that xDrive not only adds the safety benefit of all-wheel drive but also nhances the performance of the vehicle for a truly exhilarating driving experience.

750i xDrive & 750Li xDrive

The xDrive models will have the same standard and optional equipment profile as the RWD, with the exception that xDrive and Active Roll Stabilization are standard on the xDrive 7 Series. BMW's acclaimed xDrive all-wheel drive system has been enhanced for these new models to ensure that the 750i xDrive and 750Li xDrive set a new benchmark for handling characteristics among all-wheel drive sedans. BMW's Integrated Chassis Management, using the remarkable speed of the FlexRay on board network, is able to identify and limit understeer by shifting torque rearward (up to 80% to the rear axle) while preserving the stability for which xDrive has been recognized. As a second step, the Integrated Chassis Management system can then apply a precise combination of throttle and individual rear-corner braking in order to maintain perfectly neutral handling in a corner, regardless of road surface conditions.
These key enhancements to xDrive result in the most nimble all-wheel drive sedan

Thanks for posting, Hayden. They should be supplying the 20" wheel with the M Sport Package - don't know why they're not. They're offering the 20" for the Canadian market with the M Sport Package.

The 19" version offered as standard in the U.S. with the M Sport Package should be the same design as the 20" wheel. Is it my imagination or does the 19" wheel that comes with the M Sport Package look suspiciously similar to the one that the Individual cars get?

Best regards.

Thank you.

The big question is - why doesn't the 2010 750i get the 8-speed tranny?

Thanks hayden. Now the question is: Who has an 09 and regrets not waiting? I guess it all depends on how much $. I'm reluctant to even take a guess. If it was available when I purchased mine (May 14, 09) I would not have bought the 760...but I wish the x-drive was available, would have gone with that. Oh well...in spite of the problems I'm having with my 750li I still love it. Drove it for almost 4 hours on Tuesday and had a smile on my face the whole time. What a car! :)

I can't wait to take the 760 for a drive.

First off, I'm disappointed that 2010 production will start in September. That's just days after I pickup my '09 at the Welt. I would have thought they would be introducing the 2010 around January since the '09 didn't show up in the US until March... only 7 months for the '09?

Second... I assumed the M package would be an add-on, not a replacement. (Sport Package + M Appearance Package)

It doesn't specifically say the 750 doesn't get the 8-speed tranny. I guess we'll have to wait for clarification on that. Maybe they want to hold it exclusively for the 760 at least for the first year out.

Makes me happy I'm only in a 36 month lease. If I really love the car (as I expect I will), I'll be even happier in 3 years with a 2012 Individual. :)

Active passenger seats have been added to the Luxury Seating Package

Does this mean the front passeneger gets massage function? Or is this just active side bolsters?

You be the judge. Individual wheels are on the right.

Thanks for putting them side by side. They're close in terms of design but not the same.

Best regards.

I assume the M Sport 19 and 20's will be Run Flats

I assume the M Sport 19 and 20's will be Run Flats

For the Canadian vehicles, they'll be putting performance runflat tires on the 20" 303M wheels in the following sizes: 245/40 R20 & 275/35 R20.

I would assume they'll be matching performance runflat tires to the 19" 302M wheels as well.

Best regards.

Just to bump the thread...They are putting the 19" Style 302M wheel on the Sport Package - this set has Pirelli P Zero Runflats... real sharp. I like those 20's yet have not seen them in person.
